SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Allison "Al" Perring Jr. of Clinton, who
4passed away on September 27, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Al Perring was born in Midland City to Allison Sr.
6and Margaret Cox Perring on August 19, 1931; he married Jean
7Gehlbach in Waynesville on December 29, 1950; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Al Perring served in the United States Army and
9was a veteran of the Korean War; after his military service, he
10returned to Central Illinois and began a life of farming; even
11though he faced his share of crop losses, machinery breakdowns,
12and wide fluctuations in market prices, he never questioned his
13decision, and he never thought of being anything other than a
14farmer; throughout his career, he maintained a positive
15attitude and an optimistic outlook on the future of farming;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Al Perring's optimism caught the attention of the
18Salute to Agriculture Program, and he was a finalist for their
19Farmer of the Year Award; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Al Perring was active as a community volunteer and
21leader, which included positions as the DeWitt County

1Republican Party Chairman, the Deland Weldon School Board
2President, and the Nixon Township supervisor; he was a 4-H
3leader and a Little League coach and official; he was a 33rd
4degree Mason; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Al Perring enjoyed discussing politics, family,
6farming, and Fighting Illini sports; he was a loving husband,
7father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend
8whose legacy lives on through his family and community; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Al Perring was preceded in death by his parents;
10his four brothers; and his sisters; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Al Perring is survived by his wife of 66 years,
12Jean; his children, David Perring, Steve (Lee Ann) Perring, and
13Kathy (Ted) Parge; his six grandchildren; his eight
14great-grandchildren and one on the way; and his sister-in-law,
15Phyllis Perring; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Allison "Al" Perring Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to
19his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
