SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
3Assembly pays honor and respect to truly great individuals; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Six brothers of the Kaszynski Family of Peru
5served in World War II; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Five of the brothers served in the United States
7Army: Bernard, Florian, Thaddeus, Alex Jr., and Richard; and
 
8    WHEREAS, One brother, Chester, served with the United
9States Merchant Marine during World War II and with the United
10States Army during the Korean War; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Kaszynski brothers served all over the world
12during World War II in places such as Guadalcanal, Tangal, the
13Panama Canal Zone, New Guinea, the Philippines, and Iceland;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Alex Jr. was the only brother who was seriously
16wounded in action on Luzon and was awarded the Purple Heart;
17therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

1CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Route 6 from Mary Street
2in Spring Valley to Harrison Street in Peru as the "Kaszynski
3Brothers Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
5is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
6State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
7giving notice of the name the "Kaszynski Brothers Memorial
8Highway; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
10presented to the Kaszynski Family, Peru Mayor Scott J. Harl,
11Spring Valley Mayor Walt Marini, and the Secretary of the
12Department of Transportation.
