SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
70 ILCS 3705/7  from Ch. 111 2/3, par. 194

    Amends the Public Water District Act. Provides that a general manager of a public water district may be discharged at a meeting of the board of trustees upon a majority vote of the members present (currently, by a unanimous vote of the board of trustees).

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Public Water District Act is amended by
5changing Section 7 as follows:
 
6    (70 ILCS 3705/7)  (from Ch. 111 2/3, par. 194)
7    Sec. 7. The board of trustees may appoint a general manager
8to serve a term of five years and until his successor is
9appointed, and his compensation shall be fixed by resolution of
10the board. Such general manager shall devote his time
11exclusively to the affairs of the district, and shall have
12power to employ, discharge and fix the compensation of all
13employees of the district, except as in this Act otherwise
14provided, and he shall perform and exercise such other powers
15and duties as may be conferred upon him by the Board of
16Trustees.
17    Such general manager shall be chosen without regard to his
18political affiliation and upon the sole basis of his
19administrative and technical qualifications to manage the
20waterworks properties and affairs of the district, and he may
21be discharged at a meeting of the board of trustees only upon a
22majority vote of the members present unanimous vote of the
23board of trustees. Such general manager need not be a resident

1of the district at the time he is chosen.
