SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/10-20.24  from Ch. 122, par. 10-20.24

    Amends the School Code. Specifies that provisions allowing part-time attendance in the regular education program of a school district by pupils enrolled in nonpublic schools shall include allowing a resident pupil who is enrolled in a nonpublic school to participate in an interscholastic athletic activity of the district if the activity is not offered by the nonpublic school and if the pupil pays those fees associated with the activity that are charged to public school pupils.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
510-20.24 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/10-20.24)  (from Ch. 122, par. 10-20.24)
7    Sec. 10-20.24. Part-time Attendance. To accept in
8part-time attendance in the regular education program of the
9district pupils enrolled in nonpublic schools if there is
10sufficient space in the public school desired to be attended.
11For the purposes of this Section, allowing part-time attendance
12in the regular education program of the district shall include
13allowing a resident pupil who is enrolled in a nonpublic school
14to participate in an interscholastic athletic activity of the
15district if the activity is not offered by the nonpublic school
16and if the pupil pays those fees associated with the activity
17that are charged to public school pupils. Request for
18attendance in the following school year must be submitted by
19the nonpublic school principal to the public school before May
201. Request may be made only to those public schools located in
21the district where the child attending the nonpublic school
22resides.
23    To accept, pursuant to the provisions of Section 14-6.01,

1in part-time attendance resident pupils of the types described
2in Sections 14-1.02 through 14-1.07 who are enrolled in
3nonpublic schools.
