HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the Culver's in Berwyn on receiving the 8th Annual George W. Ashby Award for Business Excellence; and

WHEREAS, The Culver's Berwyn location opened in 2011 and has had a positive impact on the city ever since; franchisee Guy Hollis was attracted to Berwyn because of the sense of pride he felt from residents; he rode his bike through town to get to know the area better and knew the location was perfect for a brand new Culver's; and

WHEREAS, The business gives 1% of its sales to various community events and fundraisers; they have participated in numerous events such as Oktoberfest, the Zombie Walk, and the Pub Crawl; it also gives dedicated employees the chance to become part-owners at new Culver's locations through the Culver Franchising System; and

WHEREAS, The George W. Ashby Award for Business Excellence is a local honor named after one of Berwyn's distinguished early architects; George Ashby was responsible for the design of every grade school in Berwyn and J. Sterling Morton High School; and

WHEREAS, Culver's dedication to the City of Berwyn is worth celebrating; their involvement has made an incredible impact; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Culver's in Berwyn on receiving the 8th Annual George W. Ashby Award for Business Excellence; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Guy Hollis as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
