HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Lindsey Jensen on being selected as the 2018 Illinois Teacher of the Year by the Illinois State Board of Education; and

WHEREAS, Through education, Lindsey Jensen has changed the lives of students; she has been teaching for 12 years and began her career as a teacher's aide in junior high; for the past nine years, she has been teaching high school English; and

WHEREAS, Lindsey Jensen is in her fourth year at Dwight Township High School, where she teaches 11th and 12th grade English; and

WHEREAS, Lindsey Jensen is known for presenting material in creative ways, such as through song, and for her contagious desire for students to not only earn good grades, but to also truly understand the material; and

WHEREAS, Lindsey Jensen is involved in the community beyond the classroom and has raised thousands of dollars for Special Olympics; and

WHEREAS, Lindsey Jensen was selected as the 2018 Illinois Teacher of the Year at the Those Who Excel banquet in Normal, Illinois on October 28, 2017; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Lindsey Jensen on being selected as the Illinois Teacher of the Year, and we thank her for her continuing commitment to education; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lindsey Jensen as an expression of our esteem and respect.
