HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Dee-Mack High School boys football team, the Chiefs, on the occasion of their remarkable 2016 season with a record of 13 wins and one loss and winning the 2016 Illinois High School Association Class 2A Boys Football State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Chiefs defeated Maroa-Forsyth High School by taking an early lead and scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter and won by a score of 35 to 7 at Memorial Stadium at the University of Illinois in Champaign to claim the championship; and

WHEREAS, The Chiefs had a successful season with several impressive highlights, tying the school record for most wins, breaking the school record for scoring with a total score of 656 points, and becoming the first boys football team at the school to win a state championship; and

WHEREAS, The Chiefs were undefeated in the postseason with a record of 5-0, and the team scored the most points in Class 2A postseason history with 232 total points; and

WHEREAS, The Chiefs are coached by head coach, Job Linboom, a social studies and history teacher who took over the program in 2006 and thinks teaching, education, and preparedness are essential to student success; and assistant coaches, including Jerrod Ingram, Kevin Hill, Kenny Hill, Bobby Kellum, John Pacotti, Mitch McElroy, J. R. Lester, and Robert Ford; and

WHEREAS, The Chiefs are Alex Kerner, Levi Scheuermann, Trace Thomas, Connor Craig, Christian Smith, Weston Sauder, Preston Lester, Lukas Stolzenberg, Derrick Baker, Logan Schoonover, Jacob Carnicle, Logan Joos, Jacob Majernik, Tylor Thompson, Ethan Stedman, Cody Cagle, Dakota Brush, Caleb Scott, Jared Reese, Jake Golden, Conner Weishaupt, Tristan Steffen, Darren Adams, Dayton Neumann, Hunter Mull, Arlo Welch, Matt Switzer, Dylan Shields, Riley Kuhn, Joey Regnier, Caleb Miller, Jared Cohee, Gale Gresham, Derek Martens, Sam Cleaver, Nick DeBolt, Nic Dickerson, and Dawson Jones; and

WHEREAS, Dee-Mack High School boys football team is a model for success, setting records and showing their strong moral character; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Dee-Mack High School football team, the Chiefs, on winning the 2016 Illinois High School Association Class 2A Boys Football State Championship, and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the players and coaches for the Chiefs as an expression of our esteem and respect.
