1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Edna Smith on the occasion
4 of her 100th birthday on January 14, 2017; and

5     WHEREAS, Edna Smith was born on January 14, 1917 in
6 Maywood; and

7     WHEREAS, Edna Smith made a career out of working for Sears,
8 Roebuck and Company, rising to the rank of Executive Secretary
9 to Mr. Roebuck himself and working in the famous Sears Tower in
10 Chicago; and

11     WHEREAS, Edna Smith is a family woman; she raised one
12 daughter, and is a proud grandmother of three and
13 great-grandmother of eight; therefore, be it

14     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15 HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16 congratulate Edna Smith on her 100th birthday on January 14,
17 2017 and we wish her many more wonderful years; and be it
18 further

19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to Edna Smith and her family as an expression of our
