HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate John F. Vrba on his tenure as the president of the Illinois Health Care Association, a volunteer position wherein he sought the highest quality of care standards for the frail elderly who receive care in facilities across the State, and for his 27 years of service as a care provider; and

WHEREAS, John Vrba has embraced a life centered on positivity and living for the moment after the unfortunate passing of his father at a young age; he is the living embodiment of the phrase "Live, Laugh and Love"; and

WHEREAS, John Vrba is a lifelong Illinois resident, growing up in Northeastern Illinois, receiving his undergraduate education at the College of St. Francis in Joliet, and earning a master's degree in psychology from Benedictine University in Lisle; and

WHEREAS, John Vrba began his career in skilled nursing care in 1991, providing one-on-one direct care to residents as an activity aide, where he came to understand the needs of the frail and elderly; and

WHEREAS, This early exposure to the elderly set John Vrba's course in life, causing him to dedicate his career to being a care provider for the elderly, climbing the ranks from being an activity aide, to an administrator, and eventually operating his own skilled nursing center, Burgess Square Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre, where he could set the highest quality standards for those in his care; and

WHEREAS, John Vrba understood the value of working with like-minded individuals; he became a member of the Illinois Health Care Association at the outset of his career in skilled nursing care; and

WHEREAS, John Vrba used his role at the Illinois Health Care Association to serve as a volunteer advocate for the skilled nursing care profession at both the State and federal level; and

WHEREAS, John Vrba has worked diligently to assure appropriate physician oversight for the frail elderly happens throughout the State as a member of the board of directors for the Illinois Medical Directors Association; and

WHEREAS, John Vrba's humanitarian spirit could not be contained in the skilled nursing profession; he also serves on the board of the John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, a group dedicated to the eradication of this horrible affliction; and

WHEREAS, John Vrba, after serving in many roles for the Illinois Health Care Association, eventually assumed the presidency in 2013, and now finds his term as such ending; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate John F. Vrba on his tenure as president of the Illinois Health Care Association and for his continued commitment to Illinois's elderly citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to John Vrba and his family as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
