HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate George Grosso on his 59 years of service as a firefighter with the Limestone Township Fire Protection District as well as his dedication and commitment to his local community; and

WHEREAS, George Grosso joined the fire service in 1958 as a rookie; he was appointed to the board of trustees in September of 1981 and is now the treasurer of the district; and

WHEREAS, George Grosso dedicated countless hours to the repair and maintenance of the department's fire apparatuses, ensuring that the equipment was always ready and in top condition; and

WHEREAS, George Grosso is a successful independent businessman, nevertheless, he was always ready to respond to local emergencies, including such historic disasters as the week-long Phillips Petroleum Gas Well Fire, the Limestone School Fire, and the Crescent City Train Derailment; and

WHEREAS, George Grosso participated as a trustee in two fire station remodels and expansions and the land acquisition for the construction of a new fire station in Limestone Township; and

WHEREAS, George Grosso recently received an Outstanding Community Service Award from the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts; and

WHEREAS, Since 1958, George Grosso has seen the department grow from a small volunteer department to an organization with full-time, part-time, and paid on-call firefighters and paramedics; and

WHEREAS, George Grosso epitomizes the best that Illinois has to offer and stands as an example to future generations; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate George Grosso on his 59 years of dedication and service and that we wish him a happy and fulfilling retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to George Grossman as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
