1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Colonel Bob Roth on the
4 occasion of his retirement from military service on August 1,
5 2017; and

6     WHEREAS, Colonel Roth has served with dedication and
7 distinction for 30 years as a commissioned officer in the
8 United States Air Force; and

9     WHEREAS, Colonel Roth graduated from the University of
10 Illinois in 1980; he then attended Loyola University of
11 Chicago, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1985; and

12     WHEREAS, Colonel Roth was given a direct commission in the
13 U.S. Air Force at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery,
14 Alabama; and

15     WHEREAS, Colonel Roth served as a staff judge advocate in
16 the Illinois National Guard, advising on matters related to
17 both the Army and Air National Guard; he was a full-time legal
18 advisor and counselor to the Adjutant General of Illinois, the
19 Commander of the Illinois National Guard, the Director of the
20 Department of Military Affairs, and the state and federal
21 staffs of those agencies; and

1     WHEREAS, Colonel Roth was deployed to New Orleans in 2005
2 in support of the civil military operations in responses to
3 Hurricanes Katrina and Rita; and

4     WHEREAS, Colonel Roth was deployed to Afghanistan in 2008
5 with the 33rd Brigade Combat Team as staff judge advocate for
6 Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix VIII; and

7     WHEREAS, Colonel Roth is an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs;
8 and

9     WHEREAS, Colonel Roth is happily married to his wife,
10 Sharon, a retired Air National Guard officer, and they have two
11 wonderful children, Samantha and Zachary; therefore, be it

12     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13 HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14 heartily congratulate Colonel Bob Roth on his many years of
15 service to our country and State and we wish him much success
16 and happiness in his retirement; and be it further

17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to Colonel Roth as a symbol of our respect and
19 esteem.
