HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Colonel Bob Roth on the
4occasion of his retirement from military service on August 1,
52017; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Colonel Roth has served with dedication and
7distinction for 30 years as a commissioned officer in the
8United States Air Force; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Colonel Roth graduated from the University of
10Illinois in 1980; he then attended Loyola University of
11Chicago, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1985; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Colonel Roth was given a direct commission in the
13U.S. Air Force at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery,
14Alabama; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Colonel Roth served as a staff judge advocate in
16the Illinois National Guard, advising on matters related to
17both the Army and Air National Guard; he was a full-time legal
18advisor and counselor to the Adjutant General of Illinois, the
19Commander of the Illinois National Guard, the Director of the
20Department of Military Affairs, and the state and federal
21staffs of those agencies; and

1    WHEREAS, Colonel Roth was deployed to New Orleans in 2005
2in support of the civil military operations in responses to
3Hurricanes Katrina and Rita; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Colonel Roth was deployed to Afghanistan in 2008
5with the 33rd Brigade Combat Team as staff judge advocate for
6Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix VIII; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Colonel Roth is an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Colonel Roth is happily married to his wife,
10Sharon, a retired Air National Guard officer, and they have two
11wonderful children, Samantha and Zachary; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14heartily congratulate Colonel Bob Roth on his many years of
15service to our country and State and we wish him much success
16and happiness in his retirement; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Colonel Roth as a symbol of our respect and
19esteem.
