HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize Round Lake High School on being ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best schools in Illinois and the nation; and

WHEREAS, From 2001 through 2011, Round Lake High School was run by the State because of severe financial problems; and

WHEREAS, Just six years after being taken off the State financial watch list, U.S. News & World Report ranked Round Lake High School 76th out of 658 Illinois high schools, placing it in the top 12% of the State and earning it a silver medal; and

WHEREAS, This is the first time Round Lake High School has received such an honor, and it is emblematic of the great strides the school has made; and

WHEREAS, Round Lake High School ranks 2,267th in the country, putting it in the top 10 percentile; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Round Lake High School on being ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best schools in Illinois and the nation, and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Round Lake High School Principal Donn Mendoza as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
