1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Maya Scott James on
4 becoming the 2017 119lb/Female Novice Class Chicago Golden
5 Gloves Champion; and

6     WHEREAS, Maya James won the title match with a 2nd round
7 TKO over Domencia Jaramillo; and

8     WHEREAS, Maya James is a 16-year-old junior and honor roll
9 student at Walter Payton College Prep; and

10     WHEREAS, Maya James fights from the South Paw stance, but
11 will switch to an orthodox style of fighting and back
12 throughout her fights; and

13     WHEREAS, Maya James trains out of Sam Colonna's Boxing
14 Club; she is trained by Rita Figueroa and Kim Carlson, both
15 former Golden Gloves Champions; and

16     WHEREAS, Maya James looks to fight in the open division
17 next year in the same weight class; therefore, be it

18     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19 HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1 congratulate Maya Scott James on becoming the 2017 119lb/Female
2 Novice Class Chicago Golden Gloves Champion and we wish her
3 many more successful years; and be it further

4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to Maya James as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
