HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Mary Pat Palumbo on 47
4years of service as a teacher at Bridgeport Catholic Academy in
5Chicago; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mary Palumbo began teaching in 1970; in 1985, she
7educated the intermediate grades and junior high school; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mary Palumbo has played many roles, including
9serving as assistant principal, junior high coordinator,
10eucharistic minister, and on the curriculum evaluation team;
11she prepared students for the sacrament of Confirmation, the
128th grade U.S. Constitution Test, and coordinated graduation
13ceremony and activities; she has served as the moderator of the
14National Current Events Team, co-directs the Literacy
15Magazine, and serves as the social studies coordinator; she
16organized and coached a student team for their participation in
17the television program "Know Your Heritage"; she also served as
18a mission coordinator and CCD instructor; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mary Palumbo's many awards and tributes speak
20volumes about her esteemed status among her colleagues and
21students; she composed a portion of the paper, "The Building of
22Chicago - Choices and Changes", which was published in the

1Chicago Tribune Education Services; she also participated in
2the National Endowment for the Humanities sponsored project,
3"Personal Profiles of Chicago's Economic History"; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mary Palumbo holds a Bachelor of Arts in History
5with a minor in Sociology from the University of St. Francis;
6she holds a certificate for secondary education and has worked
7towards her master's degree from DePaul University; she also
8has credit hours in developmental education and
9neurodevelopmental learning; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mary Palumbo's energy, creativity, and passion
11for teaching has been an inspiration to her many, many
12students; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15congratulate Mary Pat Palumbo on 47 years of service as a
16teacher at Bridgeport Catholic Academy, and we wish her the
17best in all her future endeavors; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Mary Palumbo as an expression of our esteem and
20respect.
