HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Michael J. Tardy on the
4occasion of his retirement as Director of the Administrative
5Office of the Illinois Courts on August 1, 2017 following a
6sterling 40-plus year career with the Judicial Branch; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Director Tardy was named acting director in
8September of 2011 and was officially appointed as director in
9January of 2012; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Director Tardy served in both clinical and
11administrative positions within the Illinois judicial branch
12over the past 41 years; he initially worked for the Circuit
13Court of Cook County Social Service Department; in his 13 years
14there, he started as a case worker and worked his way up to
15district supervisor; he joined the Administrative Office of the
16Illinois Courts in 1988 as a field supervisor with the
17Probation Services Division and was named associate director of
18the division in 1995; and
 
19    WHEREAS, In 2002, Director Tardy was named executive
20assistant to former Director Cynthia Y. Cobbs; the Illinois
21Supreme Court named him as director upon her resignation; and

1    WHEREAS, Director Tardy also served from 1997 to 2000 as
2consultant to the municipal court in Seattle, Washington; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Director Tardy earned his bachelor's degree from
4DePaul University and his master's degree in clinical social
5work from the University of Illinois at Chicago; from
62001-2011, he served as a part-time faculty member at Loyola
7University in the Criminal Justice Department; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10congratulate Michael J. Tardy on his retirement as Director of
11the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts following a
12sterling 40-plus year career with the Judicial Branch; and be
13it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Director Tardy as a symbol of our respect and
16esteem.
