HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Nicolas and Pureza Pacis on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Pureza Ramiro Pacis was born in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on October 5, 1941; she graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and a Bachelor of Science in Education; she spent a number of years working as an elementary and high school teacher before entering public service; and

WHEREAS, Nicolas Pacis was born in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on October 20, 1937; he graduated from Araneta University with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering; after working as a physics teacher, he too became a government employee; and

WHEREAS, Both Nicolas and Pureza Pacis were raised in Vintar; both had common cousins from each side of the family; both had common friends; both taught high school at the town's Vintar Academy at the same time, where a beautiful friendship blossomed into a relationship, then grew into a family; and

WHEREAS, Nicolas and Pureza Pacis were married on June 18, 1967; and

WHEREAS, Nicolas and Pureza Pacis reside in Bartlett; their Golden Wedding Anniversary will be celebrated with family and friends at the Bartlett Community Center on June 18, 2017; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Nicolas and Pureza Pacis on their 50th wedding anniversary, and we wish them many more wonderful years together; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Nicolas and Pureza Pacis as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
