HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives would like
3to recognize Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln on its 125th
4anniversary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Immanuel Lutheran Church was founded on July 3,
61892 and soon grew to 150 members; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Immanuel Lutheran Church's first building was
8constructed at the corner of Pekin Street and Logan Street and
9remained there for approximately the next 60 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Immanuel Lutheran Church continued to grow and the
11original building eventually did not meet the needs of the
12congregation; with a new minister and over 13,000 hours of
13volunteer labor, the members of the congregation built a new
14church at 1409 Pulaski Street and they dedicated the building
15on June 25, 1961; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Immanuel Lutheran Church has been serving under
17the same mission statement for the past 125 years, "Living,
18Caring, and Sharing the Good News of Jesus"; and
 
19    WHEREAS, For over a century, Immanuel Lutheran Church has
20provided a place of education, worship, service, and

1friendship; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
3HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4recognize Immanuel Lutheran Church on its 125th anniversary and
5we wish it many more wonderful years; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
