HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Louise Pendleton, who passed away on May 4, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Louise Pendleton was born in Hernado, Mississippi to Jim and Mary (Wooten) Newson on July 14, 1935; she grew up in Coldwater, Mississippi, where she received her formal education and was a member of the Church of Christ; she moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she married Gaston Wilson Sr.; she later moved to Chicago, where she married Sidney Pendleton; in 1971, she moved to Pembroke Township to raise her children; and

WHEREAS, Louise Pendleton was employed at various companies; her most recent job was with Catholic Charities, where she enjoyed serving others; and

WHEREAS, Louise Pendleton enjoyed spending time with her family, working outside in her garden and yard, playing board and card games, and traveling to visit relatives; and

WHEREAS, Louise Pendleton was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings; and her first husband, Gaston Wilson Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Louise Pendleton is survived by her children, Gaston (Angela) Wilson Jr., Melvin (Dorothy) Wilson, Diane Wilson, Denise (Anthony) Stanley, Jacqueline (Eric) Springer, Deshune (Marsolene) Pendleton, Darrell (Kimberly) Cross Pendleton, and Ardis D. Cross; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her brothers, Edward (Glenda) Newson, Joseph Newson, and Willie (Shirley) Newson; her sisters, Velma Bennett and Mae Alexander; many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, dear friends, and loving church members; her close friends, Elve Lumpkin and Mary Johnson; and one goddaughter, Patricia Nevills; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Louise Pendleton, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Louise Pendleton as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
