HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize Donald Jackson on over 20
4years as President of the Peoria Branch of the NAACP; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Jackson entered law school at the
6University of Illinois in 1971; he was admitted to the bar in
71974 while working as a field attorney for the National Labor
8Relations Board; he was hired by Bradley University as a
9part-time instructor, teaching the principals of collective
10bargaining; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Donald Jackson entered private practice in 1975;
12he also joined the staff of the Peoria County Public Defender;
13his downtown-Peoria practice specializes in race, sex,
14retaliation, hostile work environment, and disability
15discrimination; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Donald Jackson has been a guest lecturer at
17seminars conducted by the Illinois Department of Human Rights,
18the Public Employees Association, and other similar
19organizations; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Donald Jackson currently serves as a Hearing
21Officer for the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary

1Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois; and
 
2    WHEREAS, For the past 20 years Donald Jackson has served as
3the President of the Peoria Branch of the NAACP; in 2003, he
4was elected President of the Illinois State Conference of the
5NAACP, serving from 2004 to 2011; he is a past President of the
6Region III Leadership Team; under his leadership, the Peoria
7NAACP took on environmental and healthcare issues in addition
8to its traditional concerns of employment, education, and
9voting rights; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Donald Jackson is married to Ernestine (Humes)
11Jackson, and they have three sons, Donald R. Jackson Jr., Dale
12R. Jackson, and Derick R. Jackson; he and his wife have two
13granddaughters, Desirae R. Jackson and Sofia Puffer-Jackson,
14one grandson, Lewyn Puffer-Jackson, and one great-grandson,
15Kaidyn Amir Jackson; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18recognize Donald Jackson on over 20 years as President of the
19Peoria Branch of the NAACP and wish him many more successful
20years; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to Donald Jackson as an expression of our esteem and
