HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize Patricia Ransford on the occasion of her retirement as principal of Arcadia Elementary School after 19 years on May 25, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Ransford has been an educator for 49 years; and

WHEREAS, During Patricia Ransford's tenure, Arcadia Elementary School was recognized with three national awards; the United States Department of Education named it a "Blue Ribbon School" in 2009; the Education Trust honored Arcadia with the "Dispelling the Myth" award in 2013; and on May 10, 2016, Learning Heroes awarded Arcadia the "Game Plan for Success" award; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois State Board of Education recognized Arcadia Elementary School with the 2007 "Academic Improvement Award" for exemplary gains in performance on the Illinois Learning Standards, the 2012 "Spotlight School" award for exemplary performance in closing the achievement gap and meeting high standards, and the 2012 "Excellence Award" for exemplary academic performance on the Illinois Learning Standards; and

WHEREAS, Arcadia Elementary School received recognition from the Village of Olympia Fields in March of 2007 for scholastic achievement after achieving the highest Illinois Standards Achievement Test scores in Chicago Southland; the Village of Matteson recognized Arcadia for academic achievement on the 2008 Illinois Standards Achievement Test; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Ransford guided Arcadia Elementary School to eight consecutive Exceeding the Ultimate Goal Awards from the District 162 School Board; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Patricia Ransford on her retirement as principal of Arcadia Elementary School after 19 years of service, and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Patricia Ransford as an expression of our esteem and respect.
