HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives would like to congratulate Chairman Mark Stephens on his 25th anniversary as chairman of the board of trustees at Triton College; and

WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the area, Chairman Stephens showed tremendous academic potential at a young age by graduating from East Leyden High School in three years; he went on to attain a bachelor's degree in business and a Juris Doctor from DePaul University, while also taking classes at his local community college, Triton College; and

WHEREAS, Chairman Stephens went on to become owner of Bomark Cleaning Services in 1981 and an attorney at Storino, Ramella and Durkin in 1988, while also staying active in his community and charitable work; and

WHEREAS, Chairman Stephens was elected to the Triton College Board of Trustees as vice chairman in 1991, and assumed the position of chair in 1992; and

WHEREAS, In the first 10 years of Chairman Stephens's leadership, Triton College grew to support the needs of the community; he recognized the need for technical training in the burgeoning computer field of the 1990s; and

WHEREAS, Since taking office, Chairman Stephens has prioritized financial stability and institutional efficiency, using his business acumen and legal experience to balance a budget and create reserves in the case of future financial unpredictability; and

WHEREAS, Chairman Stephens is a hardworking business owner, lawyer, and educational and community leader; he is also a dutiful husband to Lisa, a proud father to Jacqueline, Michelle, and Mark, and a loving grandfather to Aiden; and

WHEREAS, Chairman Stephens's passion for Triton College has remained unmatched, and while many things have changed over his 25-year tenure as chairman of the board, one remains constant: his steadfast leadership and dedication to serving his students; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Chairman Mark Stephens on everything he has accomplished in his 25 years as chairman of the board of trustees at Triton College; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chairman Stephens as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
