HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives would like to recognize Mayor Ray Kolweier for
4serving the City of Nashville, Illinois for 44 years; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ray Kolweier was first elected to the city council
6in 1973; he served for 20 years until 1993; and
 
7    WHEREAS, During Ray Kolweier's time as city councilman, he
8brought Magna International to town in 1986 and Ligma
9International in 1988; he started construction of a new public
10works building in 1991 and encouraged the purchase of a
11building for a new remodeled library in 1992; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ray Kolweier was first elected Mayor of Nashville
13in 1993 and served for 24 years until 2017; and
 
14    WHEREAS, During Ray Kolweier's time as Mayor, he started
15construction of a new water plant including the Kaskaskia River
16Project in 1996; he constructed a new city hall in 2003 and a
17new street department shed in 2014; and
 
18    WHEREAS, As Mayor, Ray Kolweier served as administrator of
19the Nashville-Washington county enterprise zone, liquor
20control commissioner, and health officer; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3recognize Ray Kolweier for his service to the City of
4Nashville, Illinois and we wish him the best in all his future
5endeavors; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent
7to Mayor Ray Kolweier as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
