HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representative have learned with mixed emotions of the planned retirement of Winston Mezo, a man described by the Daily Egyptian as "legendary bagel man"; and

WHEREAS, During the past 34 years, tens of thousands of students at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and citizens from throughout the region, have sated late night hunger pangs with a stop by the rolling charcoal grill known as Winston's; and

WHEREAS, Since 1983, Winston Mezo has been cultivating friends and support from those who praise his culinary skills and forecast his retirement as a major loss to the region; and

WHEREAS, Even a prospective sale of Winston's Bagel will ensure a continuation of the late night service at legendary locations like the parking lot of Pinch Penny Liquors; it is universally agreed that things just will not be the same without Winston Mezo standing behind his cart; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Winston Mezo on a distinguished career and believe Illinois is a better place as a result of his service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Winston Mezo as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
