HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Lori Palmer on 20 years as a Bartlett Park District Board Member; and

WHEREAS, Lori Palmer took office on May 6, 1997 and has been an active Board member ever since; during her time on the Board, the Bartlett Park District went from 26 parks in 1997 to 46 in 2017; the district currently maintains over 600 acres of property; and

WHEREAS, Lori Palmer was instrumental in the successful passage of a referendum in 1998 to build the Bartlett Community Center, which opened in 2000; and

WHEREAS, The Bartlett Park District has built a popular skate park, partnered with the Village of Bartlett for the development of Koehler Athletic Field Complex, and built two spray playgrounds in parks that are free for the community to use during the summer; and

WHEREAS, Lori Palmer was instrumental in having the Bartlett Park District become a partner with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and the DuPage County Forest Preserve District to jointly run the James "Pate" Philip State Park; this unique agreement allowed the Park District to expand the nature center and environmental education programs; and

WHEREAS, In 2010, a Bartlett Park District referendum was passed that allowed for the purchase of Villa Olivia and the expansion of the Bartlett Aquatic Center; and

WHEREAS, The Bartlett Park District has become the first park district in the State to own a ski hill and have a zip line in a pool; and

WHEREAS, During her 20 years on the Bartlett Park District Board, Lori Palmer has served as Treasurer, Vice-President, and four years as President; she has earned Master Board Member status through the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD); and

WHEREAS, Lori Palmer is currently serving as a Board member for the IAPD; during her years of service, she has attended over 500 committee, board, and special meetings, and all as a unpaid, elected public official; and

WHEREAS, Lori Palmer has been an outstanding member of the Bartlett Park District Board, and is well respected by staff, Board colleagues, and members of the community for all she has done to help make Bartlett great; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Lori Palmer on 20 years as a Bartlett Park District Board Member, and we thank her for her service to her community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lori Palmer as an expression of our esteem and respect.
