HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Lake Land College on the
4occasion of the 50th anniversary of its founding; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lake Land College was approved by voters in 13
6public school districts in 1966; one year later, classes
7officially began in various short-term buildings; and
 
8    WHEREAS, On March 11, 1971, the ribbon cutting ceremony for
9the permanent campus was held; two years later, on March 30,
101973, Lake Land College was granted full accreditation status;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Virgil H. Judge was named the first President of
13Lake Land College on March 1, 1967; classes started on
14September 6, 1967 in temporary facilities; the second
15President, Dr. Robert D. Webb, assumed the office on July 1,
161972, and during his tenure, he oversaw the full recognition
17and accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges
18and Universities; Dr. David V. Schultz took over as President
19on August 1, 1984 and oversaw the college's transition from
20quarters to semesters; Dr. Robert K. Luther became the fourth
21President on July 1, 1988 and guided the college to numerous
22achievements, including the dedication of many new buildings,

1the annexation of new districts, and a milestone enrollment of
2over 10,000 at the end of Spring 2004; Dr. Bill J. Thallemer
3became the fifth President of Lake Land College on July 1,
42006; Scott Lensink who was Vice-President of Academic Services
5took over as the sixth President; finally, Dr. Josh Bullock
6became the seventh and current President of Lake Land College;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Lake Land College consists of 308 acres of land,
9seven major buildings, eight supporting buildings, 160 acres of
10agricultural land, two campus ponds, and five athletic teams;
11it serves over 7,000 students; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14congratulate Lake Land College on its 50th anniversary, and we
15wish it continued success in the future; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
17presented to Lake Land College President, Dr. Josh Bullock, and
18the Lake Land College community.
