HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Judge Richard P.
4Goldenhersh on the occasion of his retirement; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Judge Goldenhersh was elected to the Illinois
6Appellate Court, Fifth District, in 1988 and assumed office in
7December of that year; he has twice been Presiding Judge of the
8District; prior to appellate service, he was a circuit judge,
9St. Clair County, 20th Judicial Circuit, from 1982 to 1988, an
10Associate Judge in St. Clair County from 1975 to 1982, and in
11the private practice of law; he attended Washington University,
12receiving his A.B. degree in 1966, his J.D. in 1969, and his
13LL.Min in Judicial Process from the University of Virginia in
142001; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Judge Goldenhersh is a past president of the
16Illinois Judges Association and past co-chair of the
17Association's Judicial Selection and Retention Committee; he
18is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, a past
19chair of the Civil Practice and Procedure Section Council, on
20which he currently serves, a past member and chair of the Board
21of Regents, and also a current member of the Bench and Bar
22Section Council; he previously has been a member of the
23Administrative Committee of the Appellate Court, chair of the

1Associate Judge's Coordinating Committee, member of the
2Supreme Court Committee on Complex Litigation, and member of
3the St. Clair County Constitution Bicentennial Committee; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Judge Goldenhersh has also been a speaker and
5instructor for the Illinois Judicial Conference, the Illinois
6Trial Lawyer's Association, the Association of Teacher
7Educators, and the National Association of Administrative Law
8Judges; he has spoken at teacher's conferences in Illinois and
9Missouri and taught at McKendree College, Webster University,
10and St. Louis University School of Law; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Judge Goldenhersh's community activities, past
12and present, include the boards of the Washington University
13Law School Alumni Association, the Jewish Federation of
14Southern Illinois, the St. Louis Committee on Foreign
15Relations, the Jewish Judge's Association of Illinois, the
16Advisory Committee for the paralegal program at Southwestern
17Illinois College, and the Ehlers-Danlos National Foundation;
18he has also spoken before numerous civic organizations and
19classes and participated in moot court competitions at Southern
20Illinois University Law School, Washington University Law
21School, and John Marshall Law School; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Judge Goldenhersh was married to the late Barbara
23Goldenhersh, Ph.D.; they have two children, Andrew, a

1professional magician in Los Angeles, and Stephanie, a clinical
2instructor and senior attorney at Harvard's Legal Aid Bureau,
3and two grandchildren, Jacy and Dylan; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6congratulate Judge Richard P. Goldenhersh on his retirement and
7wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to Judge Goldenhersh as a symbol of our respect and
11esteem.
