HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize National Women of
4Achievement, Inc.; and
 
5    WHEREAS, In 1975, Madame Maudest Walls Stewart of Houston,
6Texas sought to make a reality her longtime dream of creating
7opportunities for women to be able to make contributions to the
8welfare of one another, our youth, and our country; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Madame Stewart invited a group of women to her
10home who had achieved great success in their various fields,
11and on February 7, 1975 the National Women of Achievement was
12founded; the Articles of Incorporation were signed April 9,
131975 and filed April 10, 1975 in the Office of the Secretary of
14the State of Texas, County of Harris; and
 
15    WHEREAS, National Women Of Achievement encourages youth
16through its scholarship program and recognizes outstanding
17community leaders through its annual "Profiles of Prominence";
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Chapters of National Women of Achievement have
20been organized throughout the United States, including a
21Chicago area chapter; and

1    WHEREAS, The National Women Of Achievement's motto is
2"Excellence and Promotion of Achievement: The Key to Success";
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6recognize National Women of Achievement, Inc. and thank them
7for their commitment to their community; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to National Women Of Achievement as a symbol of our
10respect and esteem.
