SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Maria A. E. Heiser of Woodstock, who
4passed away on August 4, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Maria Heiser was born in Berlin, Germany on May 2,
61937 to Heinrich and Margarete Kottusch; following World War
7II, she and her family settled in East Berlin; her family
8escaped to the west shortly before the construction of the
9Berlin Wall; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Maria Heiser emigrated with her daughter to Cary
11in 1964 and married Robert J. "Bob" Heiser; they settled in
12McHenry in 1969; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Maria Heiser began working at McHenry High School
14(East Campus) in 1970, managing the Language Lab; she then
15worked for the McHenry Medical Group and Kemper Insurance; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Maria Heiser spent much of her time at her
17typewriter, initially crafting stories and poetry in both
18English and German, much of which was semi-autobiographical;
19she was most proud of self-publishing "About People and
20Things", a book of her poetry; she later became a prolific
21letter writer; and

1    WHEREAS, Maria Heiser was preceded in death by her parents,
2and by her infant granddaughter, Olivia Christine Heiser; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Maria Heiser is survived by her children, Andrea
4(Michael) Gilio and Rob (Sharon) Heiser; her grandchildren,
5Michael, Holly, and Adam Gilio and Corey, Max, Hannah, Sophia,
6and Julia Heiser; her 4 great-grandchildren; and her sister and
7niece, Wilma and Ira Mayerhofer of Munich, Germany; therefore,
8be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Maria A. E. Heiser, and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Maria Heiser as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
