SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard J. Georgantas, who passed away on
4August 20, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Georgantas was a proud graduate of Joliet
6Catholic High School's Class of 1954; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Richard Georgantas served his country as a member
8of the United States Army in the late 1950s, having been
9stationed in Frankfurt, Germany; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard Georgantas retired from the Argonne
11National Laboratory in Lemont after over 28 years of service;
12he worked for Reynolds Aluminum for 12 1/2 years, bartended at
13The Keg for 9 years, worked for Cornerstone Services for 5
14years, served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph Medical
15Center, and worked at the Joliet Park District, where he drove
16the Zamboni; he was also a long-time usher for the 4 PM Mass at
17St. Mary Nativity and served as a co-chair of Jubilation in
181985; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Richard Georgantas enjoyed working on crossword
20puzzles, golfing, and playing Scrabble, dominoes, and canasta
21with his family and friends; he also enjoyed taking vacations

1to Siesta Key with his daughter and her family and some very
2close friends and taking casino road trips with his gambling
3buddy, Dee; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Richard Georgantas was preceded in death by his
5parents, Margaret (Palmer) and Anthony Georgantas; 4 brothers,
6Robert (Gloria), George (Georgetta), Clarence "Teak"
7(Theresa), and Donald; a sister, Betty Bick; a brother-in-law,
8Richard Boban; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, George
9and Olga Boban; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard Georgantas is survived by his wife of 53
11years, Judy (nee Boban); a daughter, Sue (Jim) Gulas; 2
12grandchildren, Jenny and Nick Gulas; 2 sisters, Lorraine (Dave,
13deceased) A'Hearn and Connie A'Hearn; a brother-in-law, George
14F. (Carol) Boban; his favorite card playing sister-in-law,
15Christine Boban; his many nieces and nephews; and a few choice
16"outsiders"; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
19family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard J. Georgantas;
20and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Richard Georgantas as an expression
