SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mark D. Durkee of McHenry, who passed away on August 1, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Mark Durkee was born on March 9, 1920 in Alden; his parents were Edward J. and Elizabeth (nee Bailey) Durkee; and

WHEREAS, Mark Durkee was raised and worked on the family dairy farm in Hebron; he then worked at the Starline Factory as a punch press operator before working in road construction in Chicago, which he did for many year until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, In the 1940s, Mark Durkee was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps Camp; he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, watching Wheel of Fortune, getting exercise at Walmart, watching the squirrels in the trees, and cats; and

WHEREAS, Mark Durkee was preceded in death by his parents; his companion of 59 years, Elsie Fay Rust; 5 brothers, John, Paul, Harvey, George and Francis; a sister, Mary Motley; and a nephew, Dennis Durkee; and

WHEREAS, Mark Durkee is survived by his grandchildren, Larry (Jane) and Dennis (Chris) Long, Linda (Richard) Kennedy, Chris and Kelly (Deia Witz and Macy) Jones, Jamie (Eric) Brehm, Mike, Steven, and Mark Vanlue, and Lisa Whorton; and his nieces and nephews, Gene (Evie) Motley, Tom (Debbie) Durkee, Gerald and Richard (Fran) Durkee, Gary and Gail Motley, Margie (Dennis) Vedder, JoAnn (Charles) Head, Betsy (Harold) O'Mara, Laurna and Derrick, Beverly (Jim) Mikoda, and Barbara Schepers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Mark D. Durkee; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mark Durkee as an expression of our sympathy.
