SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of D. Neale Hanley of Pekin, who passed away
4on July 26, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Neale Hanley was born in Streator on January 4,
61940 to Dr. Deloss Reed and Lodema Helen (Brown) Hanley; he
7graduated from Streator Township High School in 1958 and
8married Nancy Carolyn Willey on June 10, 1961 at First United
9Methodist Church in Mattoon; he graduated from Baker University
10in Baldwin City, Kansas in 1936 with a Bachelor of Arts in
11Business Administration; he was a member of the Beta Tau
12Chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity; in 1964, he graduated from
13the Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago; he later
14married Patricia G. (Lambert) Weiland on September 26, 1993 at
15St. John's (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green
16Valley; and
 
17    WHEREAS, For the past 50 years, Neale Hanley was the
18funeral director and owner of Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes &
19Crematory in Pekin; he and his family opened a second funeral
20home location in Creve Coeur in 1973; they expanded the Pekin
21home in 2001, added a crematory facility in 2009, and
22established the Prairie Haven Cemetery on Veterans Drive in
23Pekin during the summer of 2013; while under his leadership,

1the funeral home was recognized and inducted into the National
2Funeral Directors Association - Hall of Excellence in 2012; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Neale Hanley was a Pekin resident since 1965; he
4was an active and longtime member of the Pekin Chapter of
5AMBUCS, serving as President in from 1974 to 1975 and as
6Chairman of the annual charity auction in 1985; he was a
749-year member of Empire Lodge 126, Ancient Free & Accepted
8Masons in Pekin; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; and
9Irin Grotto in Pekin; he also was a longtime member of the
10Creve Coeur Lions Club, Pekin Elks Lodge 1271, Pekin Moose
11Family Center 916, and the Pekin Country Club; he was a
12faithful supporter of the United Way of Pekin and many
13community causes; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Neale Hanley was a devoted member of Grace United
15Methodist Church in Pekin, where he had served the church as
16Chairman of the property committee and as a past President of
17the United Methodist Men; he also attended worship and Sunday
18school at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley with
19his wife; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Neale Hanley loved his family and was proud of and
21appreciated his work family; he enjoyed travel, spending time
22with friends, and keeping up with his grandchildren; he
23especially enjoyed the camaraderie and friendship with his

1bridge club and the "Nameless" luncheon group; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Neale Hanley was preceded in death by his first
3wife, Nancy; his parents; and his daughter, Laura Estelle
4Hanley; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Neale Hanley is survived by his wife, Patricia;
6his twin sons, Charles R. Hanley and D. Neale "Buster" (Joely)
7Hanley, II; his daughter, Tamzon W. "Tammie" (David) Vocatura;
8his stepson, Eric Weiland; his 5 grandchildren, Tyler Reed
9Hanley, Preston R. Hanley, Megan N. Hanley, Caroline R.
10Vocatura, and Emily E. Vocatura; his brother, Dr. James C.
11Hanley; his niece, Maureen A. (Jason) Setley; his grandniece,
12Adair Setley; and his 3 sisters-in-law, Elma Chrestenson,
13Bonnie (Jim) Boyd, and Connie (Bruce) Binkley; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16D. Neale Hanley, and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Neale Hanley as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
