SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard "Dick" H. Johnson of Crystal
4Lake, who passed away on July 15, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Johnson was born on September 9, 1932 in
6Crystal Lake; his parents were J. Elmer and Irene (nee
7Schiffer) Johnson; he married Mary Becker on February 19, 1955
8at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Crystal Lake; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard Johnson was a proud veteran of the United
10States Marine Corps, earning a Purple Heart while serving in
11the Korean Conflict; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard Johnson and his wife worked as dairy
13farmers for a few years; he later became a member of the Local
142087 Carpenters Union, where he served for over 50 years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Richard Johnson was an avid reader who spent a
16great deal of time at the Crystal Lake Public Library; he also
17enjoyed bird watching, crosswords, and cheering on the Chicago
18White Sox; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Richard Johnson was preceded in death by his
20parents; 3 siblings, Norman Johnson, Mary Bacon, and Rose

1Sippel; and 2 sons, Michael and Peter Johnson; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Richard Johnson is survived by his wife, Mary; 4
3children, Susan Sebastian, Christine Johnson, Cathy (Chris
4Nelson) Johnson, and Joseph Johnson; 2 grandchildren,
5Elizabeth (Matt) Johnson and Dylan Fraase; 2
6great-grandchildren, Dayne and Gavin Johnson; and 3 siblings,
7Joan Wilbur, Tom (Shirley) Johnson, and Margaret (Chuck) Leahy;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard "Dick" H.
12Johnson; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Richard Johnson as an expression of
15our sympathy.
