SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard "Dick" H. Johnson of Crystal Lake, who passed away on July 15, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Richard Johnson was born on September 9, 1932 in Crystal Lake; his parents were J. Elmer and Irene (nee Schiffer) Johnson; he married Mary Becker on February 19, 1955 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Crystal Lake; and

WHEREAS, Richard Johnson was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, earning a Purple Heart while serving in the Korean Conflict; and

WHEREAS, Richard Johnson and his wife worked as dairy farmers for a few years; he later became a member of the Local 2087 Carpenters Union, where he served for over 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Richard Johnson was an avid reader who spent a great deal of time at the Crystal Lake Public Library; he also enjoyed bird watching, crosswords, and cheering on the Chicago White Sox; and

WHEREAS, Richard Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; 3 siblings, Norman Johnson, Mary Bacon, and Rose Sippel; and 2 sons, Michael and Peter Johnson; and

WHEREAS, Richard Johnson is survived by his wife, Mary; 4 children, Susan Sebastian, Christine Johnson, Cathy (Chris Nelson) Johnson, and Joseph Johnson; 2 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Matt) Johnson and Dylan Fraase; 2 great-grandchildren, Dayne and Gavin Johnson; and 3 siblings, Joan Wilbur, Tom (Shirley) Johnson, and Margaret (Chuck) Leahy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard "Dick" H. Johnson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Johnson as an expression of our sympathy.
