SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Betty Jane Dowell of Harvard, who passed
4away on July 14, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Betty Dowell was born in Melrose Park on October
612, 1924 to George Henry and Emily Catherine (nee Reinhardt)
7Glos, Sr.; she married Harry Edward Dowell on April 3, 1941;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Betty Dowell worked as a Human Resources Manager
10for Crown Industrial Products in Hebron and Brown Manufacturing
11in Woodstock for many years, retiring in 1989; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Betty Dowell was a gracious hostess and welcomed
13all who came to her home with home-baked treats; she
14volunteered as a reading assistant in the Harvard school
15district and was a devoted supporter of the Harvard Food
16Pantry; she enjoyed baking, gardening, and reading; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Betty Dowell was preceded in death by her husband
18of 56 years, Harry; her parents; and her 2 brothers, George
19Henry Glos, Jr. and Glen Glos; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Betty Dowell is survived by her children, Nancy

1(Matthew) Yegge, David (Alice Pitt) Dowell, Kathleen (Roger)
2Wilhoit, and Loriann Dowell; her 6 grandchildren, Laura
3(Charles) Henkel, Matthew (Theresa) Yegge, Jonathon (Rhonda)
4Yegge, Emily Wilhoit, Seth Wilhoit, and Sarah (Daniel)
5Muralles; and her 10 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Betty Jane Dowell, and extend our sincere condolences to her
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Betty Dowell as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
