SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Betty Jane Dowell of Harvard, who passed away on July 14, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Betty Dowell was born in Melrose Park on October 12, 1924 to George Henry and Emily Catherine (nee Reinhardt) Glos, Sr.; she married Harry Edward Dowell on April 3, 1941; and

WHEREAS, Betty Dowell worked as a Human Resources Manager for Crown Industrial Products in Hebron and Brown Manufacturing in Woodstock for many years, retiring in 1989; and

WHEREAS, Betty Dowell was a gracious hostess and welcomed all who came to her home with home-baked treats; she volunteered as a reading assistant in the Harvard school district and was a devoted supporter of the Harvard Food Pantry; she enjoyed baking, gardening, and reading; and

WHEREAS, Betty Dowell was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harry; her parents; and her 2 brothers, George Henry Glos, Jr. and Glen Glos; and

WHEREAS, Betty Dowell is survived by her children, Nancy (Matthew) Yegge, David (Alice Pitt) Dowell, Kathleen (Roger) Wilhoit, and Loriann Dowell; her 6 grandchildren, Laura (Charles) Henkel, Matthew (Theresa) Yegge, Jonathon (Rhonda) Yegge, Emily Wilhoit, Seth Wilhoit, and Sarah (Daniel) Muralles; and her 10 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Betty Jane Dowell, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Betty Dowell as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
