SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Ray Mathey, Jr. of Woodstock, who passed away on June 24, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Charles Mathey, Jr. was born on July 23, 1929 to Charles, Sr. and Helen Mathey; he graduated from Medford High School in 1947 and married Norine M. Doolittle on June 6, 1953; during the Korean War, he served as a wheel mechanic at the Army's 121 EVAC Hospital in Seoul, Korea; and

WHEREAS, Charles Mathey, Jr. worked for Union Special in Huntley for 42 years as a tool room machinist; and

WHEREAS, Charles Mathey, Jr. was a life-time member of the Woodstock Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5040, serving in many capacities; he served on the honor guard for many events and was honored to be a parade marshal; and

WHEREAS, Charles Mathey, Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Norine; his parents; his 3 sisters, Delores Linzner, Bertha Garland, and Alice Levenhagen; his 2 brothers, Alex Mathey and Eugene Mathey; his brothers-in-law, Glenn Anderson, Charles Thomas, and Nicholas Levenhagen; and

WHEREAS, Charles Mathey, Jr. is survived by his 4 children, Helen (Donald) Mathey-Horn, Tom O. (Dawn) Mathey, James I. (Sandy) Mathey, and Alan R. (Carol) Mathey; his 2 sisters, Ruth Thomas and Fern Crenshaw; his sister-in-law, Norma (the late Glenn) Anderson; his 8 grandchildren; his 11 (and two expected) great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles Ray Mathey, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Mathey, Jr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
