SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Virginia Shirley "Babe" Meyer of Fox
4Lake, who passed away on June 7, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Virginia Meyer was born in Chicago on April 28,
61930 to George and Mamie (nee Andersen) Behr; she married
7Richard "Dick" Meyer in November of 1950; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Virginia Meyer and her husband both retired from
9the United States Post Office, she as a clerk and he as a
10mailman; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Virginia Meyer was active in her community,
12playing bridge and bocce, attending theater productions, and
13taking casino trips; she also shared many wild and crazy
14weekends with her "Poker Girls"; she and her husband spent
15several years wintering in Jensen Beach, Florida; she would go
16anywhere for fireworks or a Brandy Manhattan; she also loved
17the water - from the ocean to Pleasant Lake, Wisconsin and
18Baldwin Lake, Michigan; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Virginia Meyer was affectionately known by her
20great-grandchildren as "GiGi"; and

1    WHEREAS, Virginia Meyer was preceded in death by her
2parents; her husband, Richard; her brother, George; and her 3
3sisters, Evelyn, Ruth, and Betty; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Virginia Meyer is survived by her children, Nancy
5(Michael) Schirott, Richard (Nancy) Meyer, Barbara (Ronald)
6Jaski, Susan (Roger) Vosmik, and Jacqueline (David) Rosenthal;
7her 8 grandchildren; her 9 great-grandchildren; her
8sister-in-love, Carole (Ronald) Dizillo; and many nieces and
9nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Virginia Shirley "Babe" Meyer, and extend our sincere
13condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
14her; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Virginia Meyer as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
