SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Earl Johnson of Chicago, who passed away on May 23, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Robert Johnson was born in Lineville, Alabama on October 27, 1942 to Wiley General Lee Johnson, Sr. and Willie Mae Miles; he attended elementary school in Lineville and then completed his elementary education at Tennyson Elementary School in Chicago; he attended John Marshall High School and married Barbara Jean Bussie on October 10, 1964; and

WHEREAS, Robert Johnson worked for Heinemann's Bakery, the Inland Steel Company, and the Archer, Daniel, Midland Milling company, retiring after 31 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Robert Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Gloria Demons; his grandson, DeMarco Arnez Powell; his siblings, Wiley Johnson, Jr., George Johnson, and Cozetia Johnson; his brother-in-law, Byron Eugene Demons, Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends; and

WHEREAS, Robert Johnson is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Barbara; his daughter, Patricia Ann "Trish Ann" (Michael) Powell; his 2 granddaughters, Michalah Jeane Patrice Powell and Brittany Coulter; his 5 great-grandchildren, Travon, Anthony, Deziaah, Destinee, and Amari; his siblings, Wille Faye (Marvin Lee) Cole, Nathaniel Fred Johnson, Brenda Johnson, Dorothy (Fredrick) Jackson, and Janice Johnson; his brothers-in-law, Fred Bussie and Marshonne Demons; and his sisters-in-law, Terrie (Michael) Reed and Charisse (Robert) Jackson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert Earl Johnson, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
