SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James W. "Jim" Bruce, Sr., who passed away on May 12, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Jim Bruce, Sr. was born on June 2, 1937 to James and Malvina (nee Hartford) Bruce; he earned his associates degree in finance; and

WHEREAS, Jim Bruce, Sr. worked at Ceco Steel Mill for over 27 years, where he acted as President of the Steel Workers Union; he then worked for the dean's office at Hinsdale Central High School, where he later retired; and

WHEREAS, Jim Bruce, Sr. was an avid Chicago Bears fan; he enjoyed going to the casino, playing the slot machines, and playing scratch off lotto tickets with his grandchildren; most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Jim Bruce, Sr. was preceded in death by his daughter, Marylynn Mavec, and his parents; and

WHEREAS, Jim Bruce, Sr. is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon R. Bruce (nee Leiser); his son, James W. "Bucky" (Kerri) Bruce; his son-in-law, Joseph (the late Marylynn) Mavec; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Bruce, Samantha Mavec, Martin Mavec, and William (fiance Kelley Kostelz) Bruce; his sister, Lynn Drolet; his sister-in-law, Janet "Dolly" C. and the whole Militello family; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James W. "Jim" Bruce, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Bruce, Sr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
