SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Emma Jean Wesley, who passed away on May 9, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Emma Wesley was born in Shelby, Mississippi on September 22, 1957 to Willie, Sr. and Pinkie Wesley; her family relocated to Chicago in 1973; she received her education in the Mississippi and Chicago public school systems; she married Sandy Sadler, Sr. in 1974; she received her Nursing Assistant and Homemaker/Home Health Aide certifications in 1987 from the Medical Aid Training School, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Emma Wesley cared for others for 26 years until her retirement from Community Care in 2013; and

WHEREAS, Emma Wesley was affectionately known by her siblings as "Mama"; and

WHEREAS, Emma Wesley was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ethel Wesley; and her brothers, John and David Wesley; and

WHEREAS, Emma Wesley is survived by her sons, Sandy Sadler, Jr., Randy Steven Sadler, and Cartier Sadler; her grandsons, Tyjair "TJ" and Micah Sadler; her sisters, Lula Simpson, Ella Granger (Odell), and Hurtis Wesley; her brothers, Rev. Willie Wesley, Jr. (Catherine), Robert Wesley, Ernest Wesley (Glen), Roosevelt Wesley, Apostle Melvin Wesley (Pamela), and Richard Wesley (Dawn); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Emma Jean Wesley, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Emma Wesley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
