SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryan Burris of Lisle, who passed away on May 21, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Burris graduated from Lisle High School in 2009; in high school, he was a 3-sport athlete, participating in football, wrestling, and track and field, where he threw shot put and discus; he was also a Boy Scout through his senior year of high school; he joined the United States Navy in March of 2012; after training at the Great Lakes Naval Station in Lake County, he was stationed in San Diego, California before leaving for his first deployment on Easter Sunday; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Burris was serving in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in support of Operation Inherent Resolve; he was temporarily assigned to the Crisis Response Element of Joint Special Operations Task Force - Arabian Peninsula, Special Operations Command Central and U.S. Central Command; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Burris was proud to belong to a military family; his 2 grandfathers served in the Army and Navy, respectively, during World War II; his father and uncle both served in the Army and his cousin recently returned from several tours in Iraq and Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Burris is survived by his parents, Karen and Dennis Burris, and his sisters, Tammy and Audrey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryan Burris, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ryan Burris as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
