SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Patrick Louis Jolliff of Champaign, who passed away on May 19, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Jolliff was born on November 13, 1931 in Yakima, Washington; his parents were Louis and Frances (nee Flynn) Jolliff; he married Carolyn Joy Carlson on May 12, 1953 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Champaign; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Jolliff was a graduate of Champaign High School; after graduation, he began his career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked for 40 years in several customer service positions; in 1975, he was named Postmaster of Urbana, where he served until his retirement in 1992; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Jolliff was the NAPUS National Vice President from January of 1986 to December of 1987 and served as the NAPUS-ICC Chapter 6 President; he was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus; he also actively volunteered his time at area schools, the Park District, and the Kiwanis; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Jolliff enjoyed traveling, working in his yard, collecting rocks and stamps, and watching the Fighting Illini; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Jolliff was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; a brother, Richard Jolliff; and a brother-in-law, Dean Brogden; and

WHEREAS, Patrick Jolliff is survived by a son, Patrick (Pam) Jolliff; a daughter, Nancy (Doug) Braun; 5 grandsons, Benjamin (Risa) Jolliff, Zachary and Nathan Jolliff, and Michael and Christopher Braun; a brother, Wally (Marilyn) Jolliff; a sister, Kathy Brogden; and a sister-in-law, Alma Jolliff; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Patrick Louis Jolliff; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Patrick Jolliff as an expression of our sympathy.
