SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Thomas J. King of Harvard, who passed
4away on May 7, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas King was born in Harvard on May 22, 1923 to
6Thomas and Mary (nee Gleason) King; he attended the King School
7and graduated from Harvard High School; he married Nitchie
8Ricci in Rockford on February 14, 1953; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Thomas King was the last farmer of the King family
10who, for the previous 155 years, have farmed on King Road; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Thomas King was a member of St. Joseph Church, a
12past President and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, a
13founding board member of the Greater Harvard Historical
14Society, a past President of the Harvard Lions Club, a Melvin
15Jones Fellow of the Lions Clubs International Foundation, a
16member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Harvard Grange,
17a Hartland Township Auditor, a Pure Milk Association Delegate,
18and a volunteer fireman; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Thomas King was preceded in death by his wife,
20Nitchie; his parents; his brother, Frank King; and his sisters,
21Roseanne (Walter) Schultz and Irene (John) Brennan; and

1    WHEREAS, Thomas King is survived by his daughters, Toni
2King and Patricia (Daniel) McGrath; his grandchildren,
3Meredith and Margaux; his special friend, Velma Shriver; his
4brother, Roger King; and his sister-in-law, Eileen King; there
5was a special place in his heart for all his nieces and
6nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Thomas J. King, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Thomas King as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
