SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jean V. "Tootsie" Hunt-Christ of Union, who passed away on April 5, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Jean Hunt-Christ was born in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin on December 13, 1946 to Robert and Joan (nee Codman) Kleimenhagen; she graduated from Craig High School in 1965 and lived in Janesville for several years before moving to Rockford; and

WHEREAS, Jean Hunt-Christ worked in in-home party sales for Fay Swafford Luggage and Purses and Living Home Hydroponic Plants, exhibiting her items at the local fairs and festivals; she met her companion and best friend, Karl Christ, and together they expanded their business to food concessions, first with Jean's Fine Food in 1982 and also with Horizon Food Service, owning and operating all the food concessions for all of the Northern Illinois University athletic events from 1994 to 2006; and

WHEREAS, Jean Hunt-Christ was a member of the Union Lioness Club and the Hampshire Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 8043; she loved to spend warm sunny days on the deck at the farm, playing Bingo, traveling to Las Vegas, shopping, going to auctions, and collecting and showing antiques at the county fairs; she was a fabulous cook and baker, always making her famous Christmas cookies to share with family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Jean Hunt-Christ was preceded in death by her father, Robert Kleimenhagen; her mother, Joan (Bill) Lund; and her special daughter, Stacy Parker; and

WHEREAS, Jean Hunt-Christ is survived by her companion of 34 years, Karl Christ; her daughter, Erika (Jason) Freund; her son, Brian (Patricia) Hunt; her grandchildren, Britny, Andrea, Zoe, Dylan Jo, Paxtyn, and Layne; her great-granddaughter, Aleksia; her sisters, Karen (Steven) Reed and Karla (Tim) Brikowski; her half-sister, Bobbie Jeanne (Jeremiah) Weber; several nieces and nephews; and her feline friends, especially Rollie Pollie; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jean V. "Tootsie" Hunt-Christ, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jean Hunt-Christ as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
