SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jerry Sossong of McHenry, who passed away on March 9, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Sossong was born in Chicago on January 26, 1951 to Clarence and Anna (nee Gravenstock) Sossong; he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971; and

WHEREAS, For the majority of his career, Jerry Sossong was a carpenter; most recently, he worked for G. A. Johnson and Son in Evanston; previously, he was employed by R.D. Thiel; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Sossong enjoyed restoring old cars, especially his Studebaker, with his nephew, Craig; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Sossong was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Tim Sossong; his former wife, Cathleen Sossong; and his brother-in-law, James Doherty; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Sossong is survived by his 5 children, Chris (Laura Costa) Sossong, Vince (Penny) Sossong, Julie (Kevin) Stark, Jonny (Kimmy) Sossong, and Kathryn (Dave) Blok; his 12 grandchildren, Kerri, Mickayla, Gage, Taso, Madasyn, Vinnie, Chase, Philomena, Dino, Yanni, Aedan, and Adalynn; his sister, Mary Ann Doherty; and his 2 brothers, Sam (Judith) Sossong and Clarence (Ann) Sossong; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jerry Sossong, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jerry Sossong as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
