SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edgar "Ed" McShane of Waukegan, who passed away on April 7, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Edgar McShane was born in Waukegan on December 22, 1930 to Edgar and Dorothy McShane; he graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1949 and married Betty Riehl on June 22, 1951; he graduated from the Rochester, New York Institute of Photo Finishing; and

WHEREAS, Edgar McShane retired as Supervisor of the Great Lakes Navy Exchange Photo Lab on July 1, 1996; he became the first recipient of the Naval Resale System Worldwide Associate of the Year award in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Edgar McShane was President of the Lake County Art League in 1990 and 1991; he was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion; he was very artistic and creative and was an award-winning photographer of nature and landscapes primarily in Door County, Wisconsin; he enjoyed reading, American Civil War history, trains, teaching Sunday school, sponsoring church youth fellowships, music, playing the tenor saxophone, camping in Door County, and exhibiting his photographs at art festivals in Illinois and Wisconsin; if anything needed "fixing", he found a way; and

WHEREAS, Edgar McShane was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Edgar McShane is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty; his son, Lawrence "Larry" McShane; his first cousin, Joan (Herman) Mullejans; his brother-in-law, Roger (Caroline) Riehl; and his cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Edgar "Ed" McShane, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edgar McShane as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
