SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Theodore "Ted" Pitzen of McHenry, who passed away on March 24, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen was born on December 19, 1921 to Nicholas and Christina (nee Weber) Pitzen; he attended St John's Elementary School in Johnsburg; he married Lorraine Stilling on July 22, 1942; he served in the military during World War II with the 25th Infantry Division in the Pacific Theater, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant; and

WHEREAS, After the war, Ted Pitzen started Pitzen Plastering and operated it through the 1970s, before selling the business and entering the real estate business; and

WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen was active in the community as an alderman for the City of McHenry; he helped establish the McHenry Little League as a sponsor and coach; he served as Tax Assessor for the Township until 1995; and

WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen was active in sports, playing with the 1952 Johnsburg Tigers State baseball team champions; he loved golfing, fishing, and playing bridge; he was active in St. Mary Church and was a former board member for the Montini School; and

WHEREAS, After the passing of his wife, Ted Pitzen married Dorothy (Schmitt) Bassi on December 30, 1994; and

WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Laurence and Paul; his sister, Bernice; his daughters, Rebecca and Christianne Marie; and his grandson, Nicholas; and

WHEREAS, Ted Pitzen is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children, Kathleen (Calvin) Schoon, Michael (Beverly) Pitzen, Patricia (Glenn) May, John (Doris) Pitzen, Theodore (Mary) Pitzen II, Annette (Michael) Coughlin, John Bassi, Vickie (Tom) Reinhardt, Chris Bassi, Mary Bassi, Amy (Dennis) Whiteside, and Susan (Michael) Mulligan; his 27 grandchildren; and his 11 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Theodore "Ted" Pitzen, and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ted Pitzen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
