SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marie T. (nee Vilona) Wilt, who passed
4away on December 14, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marie Wilt was born in Chicago on January 27,
61931; she graduated form Austin High School in 1947; she
7completed her graduate nursing degree at Little Company of Mary
8School of Nursing from 1949 to 1952 and her post-graduate
9obstetric nursing education at Chicago Lying-In Hospital,
10University of Chicago, from 1952 to 1953; she married Edward F.
11Wilt, M.D. on April 11, 1953 at Resurrection Church in Chicago;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marie Wilt continued her obstetrical nursing
14experience at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit as assistant
15supervisor, obstetrical delivery rooms, 1953-1956; She was
16later employed as medical receptionist and office nursing
17supervisor in her husband's practice in Crystal Lake from 1990
18to 1996; she was a McHenry Hospital Auxiliary member for 56
19years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Marie Wilt encouraged reading as Chairperson of
21the McHenry Library Book Club for over 17 years; she devoted
22time and energy to the Landmark Commission and to the Civil War

1Round Table, including administering the Edward Wilt Civil War
2Scholarship for McHenry County high school seniors; she was a
3member of the Volo Bog Association and the McHenry County
4Historical Society since 1965; she was also a member of the
5American Legion Auxiliary Unit 491 and the Ladies Auxiliary
6Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4600; she was active in her
7church; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marie Wilt was a Civil War 19th century historical
9costume re-creationist and was talented in sewing, quilting,
10and needlepoint, with special interest in Victorian and Civil
11War women's dress; she lectured about and demonstrated Civil
12War era nurse's and women's dresses and uniforms at many venues
13in McHenry County; she was a docent who attended city and
14school events as "living history" in Civil War era costumes,
15teaching children and their parents about life during those
16times; she was membership chairperson, program developer, and,
17along with her husband, a charter member of the McHenry County
18Civil War Round Table discussion group; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Marie Wilt, through her appointment to the McHenry
20Landmark Commission, enthusiastically and tirelessly devoted
21time and energy in the promotion, restoration, and preservation
22of historic structures, including securing funding for the
23Historic Petersen Farm Homestead and the historical
24designation of the Samantha Button house; her dream for an

1open-air museum in McHenry evolved into the Landmark
2Commission's "Day at Petersen Farm" - a much-loved tradition;
3for these contributions, the City of McHenry proclaimed
4November 12, 2014 as "Marie Wilt Day"; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marie Wilt was the ultimate mom to her 3 children,
6Dr. Carol Perenchio (Martin Perenchio), Timothy Wilt, M.D.
7(Kristine Ensrud, M.D.), and Peter Wilt (Ann Wilt), and Grandma
8to her 5 grandchildren, Bryan (fiancee, Karen Petsche), Evan
9(Kathryn) and Kathleen Darger, and Grete and Ingrid Wilt;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Marie T. Wilt, and extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Marie Wilt as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
