SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward J. Starshak of Waukegan, who passed away on March 24, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Edward Starshak was born on February 9, 1939 in Chicago; his parents were Everett and Beatrice Starshak; and

WHEREAS, Edward Starshak spent most of his childhood in Lombard, and graduated from Fenwick High School in 1956; he subsequently graduated with honors from St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and obtained a Master's Degree in Economics from Northwestern University in 1966; and

WHEREAS, Edward Starshak spent his life in the teaching profession; he was a professor of economics at the College of Lake County in Grayslake for 30 years until his retirement in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Edward Starshak enjoyed Chicago sports, Gonzaga basketball, music, and reading novels; and

WHEREAS, Edward Starshak was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Ellen Adcock; his brother, Marty Starshak; and his sister-in-law, Sue Starshak; and

WHEREAS, Edward Starshak is survived by his wife of 41 years, Maureen (nee Sullivan); his daughter, Kate Starshak (Eric Martin); his son, Chris Starshak (Kara Jakusz); his grandchildren, C.J. and Claire Starshak; his sister-in-law, Ann Margaret (Robert) Roemer; his nephews, John (Peggy) Starshak and Jerome Starshak; his nieces, Barbara Starshak and Megean Roemer; and his many cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward J. Starshak; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward Starshak as an expression of our sympathy.
