SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Father Marx A. Jones of Crystal Lake, who
4passed away on December 16, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Fr. Jones was born in Abilene, Kansas on July 29,
61926 to Nathan and Blanche Jones; he served his country with
7the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific; he
8returned home to attend the University of Northern Colorado and
9then Philadelphia Divinity School; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Fr. Jones was a priest for several parishes in
11Kansas before settling in Illinois and serving for the
12congregations of St. Mary's in Crystal Lake, St. Anskar's in
13Rockford, St. Christopher's in Princeton, and the LaSalle
14County Episcopal Ministries; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Fr. Jones coached his sons' baseball teams and
16enjoyed golfing, story telling, and a good joke; he
17participated in an Honor Flight to Washington D.C.; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Fr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife of 34
19years, Barbara (nee Prosise) Jones; his brothers, Nathan Jones,
20Scott Jones, and Clark Jones; his parents; and his step-mother,
21Marie Jones; and

1    WHEREAS, Fr. Jones is survived by his children, Michael
2(Patricia) Jones, N. Douglas (Colleen) Jones, Christopher
3Jones, and Matthew (Jane) Jones; his grandchildren, Alec,
4Briley, Katie, Bryan, Nicole, and Sam; his niece; and his 2
5nephews; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Father Marx A. Jones, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Fr. Jones as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
