SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gordon B. "Red" Barrett of Crystal Lake, who passed away on March 1, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Barrett was born in Galva on September 19, 1918 to Floyd and Eula (nee Birchard) Barrett; he served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Barrett was a retired cabinet maker; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Barrett was an avid golfer, and he and his wife were long-time members of First United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake; he enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles in his spare time; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Barrett was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Larson); his 2 sisters, Iris Grosso and Ethel O'Donnell; and his brother, Robert Barrett; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Barrett is survived by his children, Sharon (Harold) Shiver, Linda Havlik, Gregory (Edith) Barrett, Debi (Russell) Jones, and Scott (Laurie) Barrett; his 12 grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; his great-great-grandchild; as well as many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gordon B. "Red" Barrett, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gordon Barrett as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
