SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gordon B. "Red" Barrett of Crystal Lake,
4who passed away on March 1, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gordon Barrett was born in Galva on September 19,
61918 to Floyd and Eula (nee Birchard) Barrett; he served his
7country in the United States Navy during World War II and the
8Korean War; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gordon Barrett was a retired cabinet maker; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gordon Barrett was an avid golfer, and he and his
11wife were long-time members of First United Methodist Church in
12Crystal Lake; he enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles in
13his spare time; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gordon Barrett was preceded in death by his
15parents; his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Larson); his 2 sisters,
16Iris Grosso and Ethel O'Donnell; and his brother, Robert
17Barrett; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gordon Barrett is survived by his children, Sharon
19(Harold) Shiver, Linda Havlik, Gregory (Edith) Barrett, Debi
20(Russell) Jones, and Scott (Laurie) Barrett; his 12

1grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; his
2great-great-grandchild; as well as many nieces and nephews;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Gordon B. "Red" Barrett, and extend our sincere condolences to
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Gordon Barrett as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
