SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Elroy H. Becker of Harvard, who passed away on February 20, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Elroy Becker was born in Athens, Wisconsin on March 6, 1926 to Paul and Anna (nee Fuss) Becker; he married Darlene Stevens; and

WHEREAS, Elroy Becker worked on the Ira Thompson Farm north of Poplar Grove; after retiring from farming, he worked carpentry for all of his friends around the area; and

WHEREAS, Elroy Becker looked forward to having his family over for Sunday dinners; he enjoyed fishing and building things with his children and grandchildren; he had a passion for gardening and a love for music and he was known to be light on his feet; and

WHEREAS, Elroy Becker was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steve Becker; his brother, Harold Becker; his 2 sisters, Elda and Elmyra Garbrecht; his 2 grandchildren, Brandon and Ember; his 2 great-grandchildren; his 3 step-brothers, Herbert, Arthur, and Erwin Becker; and his step-sister, Ruth McCollugh; and

WHEREAS, Elroy Becker is survived by his children, Roy (Linda) Becker, Harvey (Dorothy) Becker, Audrey (Thomas) Haynie, and Kay (Gary) Rath; his 16 grandchildren; his numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; and his 2 half-sisters, Arlene (Becker) Kohley and MaryAnn (Gunner) Rasmussen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Elroy H. Becker, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Elroy Becker as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
